Movie Review: "Clown"

CLOWN

Kent is your typical suburban dad trying to juggle all that is expected of him.  He's a successful realtor, husband, and father.  He's also late for his son's birthday party.  A birthday party that just happens to be short one clown.

Not to worry though, because the house he just finished showing happens to have a creepy attic with a complete clown custome. (What luck!)  Kent takes it upon himself to show up to the party in that same custome, only to find out the next day that the clown suit isn't all that he thought it was.

Try as he might, he can't get the rags, ball nose, and wig off and before long the transformation begins from typical suburban dad to child eating horror.  No giggles here!

I actually enjoyed this film.  It's a little cliché and too convenient at times.  Occasionally the acting is a little spotty.  This is especially the case with actress Laura Allen, Kent's wife.

With that said though, a clown movie has to be difficult to make scary, and Director Jon Watts pulls it off.  The transformation is creepy and unsettling and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the final show down that really gives the audience a pretty convincing terror inducing clown creature.  Check it out on Netflix!
